IEC is a 10-digit unique code that is required for export and import deals in India. All businesses wishing to venture into foreign territories must obtain an Import Export Code with IEC registration. Having IEC registration enables your business to take advantage of the benefits of a favorable foreign trade policy. The Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) under the authority of the Ministry of Commerce issues the IEC code. The IEC registration process takes around 7-15 days, after which it does not need to be renewed again, i.e. it has a lifetime validity after issuance.
