IEC or Import Export Code is a 10-digit code that is required by an entity or individual to export/import goods/services. The authority to issue this code has been given to DGFT (Director General of Foreign Trade), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. The code is valid for a lifetime and there is no need to renew it again and again. It takes 5 working days for the creation of the code once the documents are submitted and necessary corrections are made.
IEC code can be called by many names, such as Importer Exporter Code, Import-Export Code, Import-Export License, Import-Export Number, IE Code, IE License, etc. An applicant can issue this code either in his own name or in the name of the company. , Post its issuance, it is valid for all the branches/divisions/units/factories of your company.
